AI Disclaimer
Purpose of This Disclaimer
This AI Disclaimer applies to all artificial intelligence features available on the Braintiq platform operated by OmnitechWorks (Pty) Ltd, including the AI Tutoring system, the Natural Language Pipeline, the Adaptive Router Engine, the Offline AI Engine, Academic Content Analysis, and any other AI-assisted functionality.
By using any AI feature on Braintiq, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this disclaimer in full.
How Braintiq's AI Works
2.1 Braintiq uses a multi-engine AI architecture consisting of a proprietary Natural Language Pipeline (NLP), an Adaptive Router Engine, and an Offline AI Engine. Together these systems determine how your query is understood, which AI engine handles it, and whether processing happens in the cloud or entirely on your device.
2.2 The Natural Language Pipeline operates as follows:
- Intent extraction: Your query is analysed to determine what you are asking — explanation, problem-solving, summarisation, or critique
- Subject classification: The system identifies the academic subject area (e.g., mathematics, history, law, biology) to route the query appropriately
- Difficulty calibration: The pipeline estimates the academic level of the query to tailor the depth and complexity of the response
- Contextual retrieval: Relevant context from your session history may be retrieved to improve response accuracy (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
- Response generation: A language model generates a response based on the processed query and retrieved context
2.3 This pipeline is designed to understand how students naturally phrase academic questions — not just keyword matching — enabling more accurate, contextually relevant responses.
Limitations of AI
AI systems, including Braintiq's, are inherently subject to error. Outputs should always be verified before being relied upon for academic work, assessments, or any consequential decision.
3.1 AI-generated content may be:
- Inaccurate: Language models can produce factually incorrect statements presented with apparent confidence
- Incomplete: Responses may omit important information relevant to your question
- Outdated: The underlying models have knowledge cutoff dates and may not reflect recent developments
- Contextually misaligned: The AI may misinterpret the intent or scope of your question
- Subject to hallucination: The model may generate plausible-sounding but entirely fabricated references, citations, or facts
3.2 Mathematical and scientific outputs, while supported by KaTeX rendering, must be independently verified for correctness before submission in academic work.
Offline AI Engine — Specific Limitations
When Braintiq's Offline AI Engine is active, the AI operates entirely on your device. Performance and availability may differ from the cloud-connected experience.
3A.1 The Offline AI Engine is designed to provide AI academic support when no internet connection is available. However, the following limitations apply specifically to offline AI operation:
- Response speed: The offline engine may be noticeably slower than the cloud AI, depending on your device's processing capability. Response times may vary significantly between devices.
- Device compatibility: The Offline AI Engine requires hardware and browser support that is not available on all devices. On devices that do not meet the required technical conditions, the offline AI will not activate and AI features will be unavailable without a connection.
- Reduced capability: The on-device model is optimised for speed and low resource use. It may produce shorter, less detailed, or less nuanced responses compared to the cloud AI for complex academic queries.
- No guarantees of availability: The Offline AI Engine is provided on a best-effort basis. OmnitechWorks does not guarantee its availability on any specific device or browser configuration.
3A.2 If the Offline AI Engine fails to load or activate on your device, this is a device or browser compatibility issue and does not constitute a fault with the platform. In such cases, an internet connection is required to access AI features.
3A.3 All other limitations described in Section 3 apply equally to the Offline AI Engine.
No Warranty on AI Outputs
4.1 OmnitechWorks (Pty) Ltd makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated output.
4.2 The platform is provided as an academic support tool only and does not replace:
- Independent study and critical thinking
- Instruction from qualified educators or lecturers
- Peer review or academic consultation
- Professional or specialist advice in any field
4.3 The Company shall not be held liable for any academic outcome, assessment result, or consequence arising from reliance on AI-generated content.
Academic Integrity
Using AI-generated content in assessments, assignments, or examinations without proper disclosure may constitute academic misconduct under your institution's policies. You are solely responsible for how you use Braintiq's outputs.
5.1 Braintiq is designed to support learning — not to replace student work. Using AI outputs directly in submitted academic work without acknowledgment or independent engagement is your responsibility to manage in line with your institution's academic integrity rules.
5.2 The Company does not accept responsibility for any disciplinary action, academic sanction, or consequence arising from a user's misuse of AI-generated content.
Responsible Use of AI Features
We encourage users to interact with Braintiq's AI systems in the following ways:
- Use AI responses as a starting point — verify, cross-reference, and engage critically with the content
- Do not rely on AI output for high-stakes academic submissions without independent verification
- Do not submit sensitive personal, financial, or medical information as part of AI queries
- If a response seems incorrect or unexpected, use the platform's feedback mechanism or rephrase your query
- Understand that the AI does not have access to your institution's specific course materials unless you provide them directly
Ongoing Improvement
OmnitechWorks is continuously refining its Natural Language Pipeline and AI models to improve accuracy, contextual understanding, and reliability. User interactions (in anonymised form) contribute to this improvement process, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Despite these efforts, AI technology remains imperfect. We appreciate user feedback and use it to improve the platform over time.
Governing Clause
This AI Disclaimer supplements and must be read alongside the User Agreement (Clause 5) and the Privacy Policy (Section 4). In the event of conflict between documents, the User Agreement takes precedence.
